David DeWitt is a writer and abstract painter living in the Pacific Northwest near Seattle. We live in exciting times in which we can publish our own books.  Have you ever wanted to write a book?  Well, this is a perfect time for it since you can now write one and get it published on Amazon.com.  No, you actually don't need a traditional publisher--you can publish a book yourself and people will be able to read your work on Kindle and many other eReading devices, even in Print Editions!--how amazing is that?"

Today, if you can write well, you can be published and find readers for what you write without the permission or approval of the major publishing houses, which gives near total control of your writing career to any writer who uses modern technology to create, market, and publish their own work. The sense of freedom this gives you is difficult to describe!

I have been published in traditional ways already, a short story in an anthology called “Tales of the Marvelous Machine: 35 Stories of Computing“ editied by Burchenal Green. This anthology (from Creative Computing Press) had a pre-sell to a subscriber list of over 500,000 copies before it was in print. I have sold a science fiction novella to UNEARTH MAGAZINE called “MidWatch“ and sold fiction to November Magazine, and non-fiction to newspapers.

Now, with the advent of Indie Publishing, I can have those previously published stories once again in print (I still own the rights to them!) and a few other things I never put on the market that will now have a chance to be seen and read! Following those publications will be new work…

To help you do the same I have written a guide for publishing direct from Word to Kindle and Nook!
